Lemon Appeal

As the lead designer on this Project completed at Poppins, I helped two lemon-obsessed founders bring their vision to life through brand identity and photographic art direction. Their mission: celebrate and sustain the crafts of southern Italy’s heroic lemon farmers, weavers and ceramicists.

Fertilising Future Growth

When we started working with the Lemon Appeal they knew that they loved Sfusato lemons and wanted to celebrate them, but didn’t know exactly how they were going to do that.

I worked alongside strategy to translate the founders’ passion into a flexible visual system, developing a suite of adaptable logo marks designed to scale with an evolving, multi-category brand.

Childlike Wonder

The Mother-Daughter founders connected over their love for lemons since Sophie was little, so to communicate that innocent, playful story while staying premium, I created a suite of simple lemon illustrations. I then animated them to look as though they’re being drawn before your eyes, with clean lines and a little flourish.

Lusso Moderno

Our type choices blend Italian heritage with modern luxury. We added serifs and utilised vintage, art deco style crossbars in the wordmark that are reminiscent of old Italian signage. While the script type brings flourishing luxury into the titles, the body copy in Louize Display acts as a modern version of a print-style serif type. When brought together, the combination creates an editorial styling, leaning heavily on print layouts to emphasise the playful but premium modern luxury of the brand.

A Postcard From Italy

Leading the photography direction, I designed a dramatic, renaissance-inspired visual language that spotlights the lemon’s lifecycle like fine art. Early assets were created using Midjourney due to seasonal constraints.

I then travelled with the team to Amalfi, capturing artisans in their real environments and documenting the landscapes that define Sfusato lemons. The resulting imagery and videography is crafted to feel like a postcard from southern Italy: romantic, honest and full of character.
